2027.dev is now Firegoat

Today, we have exciting news to share: 2027.dev is now Firegoat.

Our origins

We started this company at the beginning of 2026, and shipped our first line of code under the domain 2027.dev. It was a homage to the AI 2027 essay, implying that software engineering would be fully autonomous by 2027.

Our thesis was simple. In a world where humans give up more autonomy to AI, agents become the true power users of the web. User Experience (UX) is now Agent Experience (AX), and this transition presents new challenges to companies that spent years optimizing their products for human users.

When we just got started, few teams agreed that AX is something to optimize for. Some told us developers would not (and should not) give up autonomy for certain things, for reasons we could understand. Our benchmark helped raise awareness about the friction agents face while working with developer tools.

Since then, we have grown to serve teams behind some of the world’s most widely adopted tools, like Daytona, Browserbase, Mastra, E2B, Clerk and others. Making the products we already love friendly to AI agents has been incredibly rewarding, and we’re thankful for their support.

Where we’re headed

2027.dev was a good name to signal a transition, but 2027 arrived early. By now, most of the industry agrees that an agent-first mindset is necessary to stay relevant. Salesforce announced going headless in April. Doordash shipped a CLI. Personal agents like Muse, Instinct and Dot took over the world, imposing challenges on companies like Amazon to serve AI agents.

We felt like now is the right time to choose a name that reflects our next chapter. Our mission is to empower teams to ship agent-friendly products with confidence and ease. So we’ve decided to set the standard for how agents interact with the world under our new name: Firegoat.

Why Firegoat?

We went through several options and none of them felt right. One evening, it hit me: 2027 must symbolize a certain animal in the Eastern calendar. And it does! 2027 is the Year of the Fire Goat.

Fire spreads so much more quickly than people anticipate. Goats are incredibly intelligent animals that climb steep hills and near-vertical cliffs. Together, the name stands for overcoming friction intelligently, faster than anyone can imagine.

But most importantly, Firegoat is fun, memorable, and it creates a sense of urgency. Aleks and I have built a culture of learning, shipping, and iterating fast, all while having fun and being resourceful. We create something out of nothing. To me, Firegoat is the name that embodies this mindset and reminds us to embrace it every day.

A note to our customers

First off, thank you for supporting our ideas before they became obvious to many. This is only the beginning.

Nothing changes about the product, except it’s now available under firegoat.ai. We’ve migrated everything. You can keep using our 2027 MCP server, but we highly recommend reinstalling it as Firegoat MCP.

Last but not least: We’re hiring! Firegoat is looking for exceptional product and backend/infra engineers. Please reach out to us on X or LinkedIn - or simply apply here.
